PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has warned the mayor of Paris that if his bid to buy the Parc des Princes is unsuccessful, the club will build another stadium elsewhere.

The French club have played at the stadium since they moved there in 1974 but, according to Al-Khelaifi, PSG are more than happy to move.

Al-Khelaifi said: ‘I have a question: what is the value of the stadium without PSG? It’s no big deal. The mayor should also ask what the club brings to the city of Paris.

It seems that the 49-year-old is starting to lose patience and has decided to go on the offensive during the negotiations.

Al-Khelaifi then continued, warning of a move elsewhere: “If they think we’re going to invest 500 million euros, we’ll just go and build another stadium.”

The PSG president has made no secret that the club does not need to stay at the Parc des Princes, previously stating that the club “does not feel welcome” at the stadium in an interview with brand.

Negotiations for the stadium are still ongoing and Paris assistant mayor Emmanuel Gregoire said he is happy to continue talks.

PSG first offered 40 million euros for the stadium, but the current owners immediately rejected it, claiming it was “not serious”.
