A financial manager who moved to France despite bosses telling her she had to work from Britain, she tried to sue for unfair dismissal after being fired.

Iryna Malyk, who worked from home, was given “express instructions” that she would lose her job if she moved abroad as it would cause tax and legal problems. She decided to move anyway, saying she “disagreed” with the rule, but was fired as a result.

Ms Malyk tried to sue Teleperformance Contact for unfair dismissal, arguing her role was ‘completely remote’. Only one The tribunal rejected her claim and ruled that she must ‘work from her home in Britain’.

The case raises questions about whether companies in Britain should allow their staff to work abroad ‘from home’ in the post-Covid era.

Now you can have your say on the subject in the latest Daily Mail poll:

Yesterday’s poll asked Mail readers: ‘Should foreigners be prohibited from claiming all benefits?‘ Of the more than 32,000 votes, 93 percent said ‘yes’ and 7 percent said ‘no’.
