There was a touch of magic in the air at Leicester Square Odeon in London tonight.

Practical Magic 2 leading ladies Sandra Bullock, 62, and Nicole Kidman, 59, graced the blue carpet at the star-studded premiere as the sequel to the 1998 cult film hits theaters.

Hollywood’s prettiest Ms Kidman was the epitome of glamor in a silver Chanel dress, while Ms Bullock opted for a strapless leopard print dress by Givenchy and black strappy heels as they posed between rows of candles.

Ms Kidman has thrown herself into work this year since her divorce from Keith Urban was finalized in January and has reunited with Ms Bullock – who recently opened up about the death of her partner Bryan Randall – for the project.

Set 25 years after the original film, the sequel’s plot is adapted from Alice Hoffman’s 2021 follow-up story, The Book of Magic.

The new film, out on September 11, also stars Joey King and Maisie Williams, with Ms Kidman reprising her role as Sally Owens and Ms Bullock as her sister Gillian.

Ms. King, 27, looked stunning at the premiere in a sheer white and yellow dress with a flowing skirt and newly dyed red hair.

While Ms Williams, 29, was the epitome of chic in a red corset-style dress that showed off her many tattoos.

Ms. Kidman and Ms. Bullock, who have been busy wowing movie audiences on their press tour, produced the Warner Bros. Pictures film also starring Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.

“The Owens women must reunite and travel from their home in Massachusetts to Britain to confront the source of their magic and save the next generation of their family,” the film’s synopsis reads.

The two leading ladies surprised fans when they showed up for a Cinespia screening of their 1998 film at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles earlier this month.

A behind-the-scenes video clip shared to Instagram showed the crowd erupting with excitement after the women took the stage.

Speaking at the event, Ms Bullock said: ‘Practical Magic is the perfect film to show in a cemetery,” according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Ms. Kidman thanked the audience for their support in “making this second film coming to you very soon.”

The ladies were joined in their surprise appearance by King and Williams, who play Bullock’s on-screen daughters in the upcoming film.

Mrs Kidman confirmed in 2024 that she and Bullock would reprise their roles as orphaned sisters Gillian and Sally – who come from a long line of witches.

The girls were raised by their eccentric aunts, played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, who embraced their magical history.

Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the 1998 script, returned to write the sequel with Kelly Marcel and Georgia Pritchett.

Both Ms. Kidman and Ms. Bullock served as producers, under the direction of Susanne Bier.

The original Practical Magic earned $68.3 million worldwide, according to the report The numberswhich falls under the $75 million budget.

Despite the mediocre box office figures, the film became a cult classic.

Hoffman has written three other books about the Owens family by popular demand.

“I got emails from readers saying they wanted a sequel, they wanted to know what happened to the characters,” the author told Hey Alma in 2021.

She added, “But I felt like I wanted to know how these characters happened; I wanted to know their history.

“So I went back in time and went to the ’60s in New York City in Greenwich Village – which is my favorite time and I wish we were there now – and it was a great pleasure.”
