Nick Kyrgios has sent his social media followers a very rude message just after undergoing surgery to repair the knee injury that forced him to withdraw from the Australian Open just 24 hours before playing his first match.

The Australian star shocked the tennis world last Monday when he revealed that a torn meniscus and cyst in his knee were so serious that he could not take the court at his home Grand Slam for fear of permanently injuring himself.

The 27-year-old announced that he would be traveling to his hometown of Canberra to have surgery on the joint, sharing the experience with his followers in two posts on Monday.

The green marks on his ‘after’ Instagram post seem to indicate that all went well with the procedure, but the Aussie bad boy doesn’t seem happy to be in hospital.

First, he uploaded a video of himself dressed for surgery with his knee freshly shaved and a healthcare worker in the background, accompanied by the caption ‘It’s time’ and a sweaty frowning emoji.

The second post is a photo of Kyrgios sitting in a hospital bed after the procedure, flashing the middle finger at the camera as he lies back with breathing tubes attached to his nose and eyes closed.

It appears that the operation went well as there are four green marks attached to the photo, which appears to have been taken by Kyrgios’ girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, who also posted it on her Instagram with the caption “poor baby”.
