Bodycam footage has emerged of the time Oklahoma police arrested a woman after her boyfriend found evidence she had sexually assaulted his three-year-old daughter.

You see Ashlee Cheatham, 19, opening the door to Stillwater Police Department (SPD) officers wearing nothing but a plain sweater.

Upon entering the premises, the police are heard telling Cheatham that she has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor, to which Cheatham replies incredulously, “A minor? Oh my God!’.

Cheatham, who had reportedly applied for a job at a local elementary school, then starts sobbing as the officers make the arrest.

SPD later explained that Cheatham was arrested on August 22, shortly after a man burst into the lobby demanding to speak to officers about a child abuse case.

The parent disclosed that he recently met a girl from the Oklahoma City area online. She became his girlfriend and moved in with him – while she slept, he searched her phone and found disturbing images and videos of his three-year-old daughter,” their statement said.

Police have not revealed exactly what kind of material was found on the phone, but charges against Cheatham include sexual assault of a child under the age of 12 and the manufacture or distribution of child pornography.

Cheatham, who had reportedly applied for a job at a local elementary school, began to sob as officers read her charges and made the arrest.

Lieutenant TJ Low later told the Kansas City Star that the man explained to officers that he had a strange feeling that Cheatham, whom he had met online, was “up to something.”

This gut feeling led him to check his partner’s phone while she slept, and reportedly discover evidence that she had sexually assaulted his infant daughter.

“It was all very disturbing, which is why we made the arrest that day.

“Many of us are parents, police officers here and members of the community as well. If you had that little sinking feeling, trust your gut,’ Lieutenant Low said.

“Do a thorough background check on anyone who will babysit your children.”

Cheatham’s arrest came as she was “on the brink of being hired” by Nicoma Park Elementary School as a paraprofessional.

A spokesperson for the school confirmed to KOCO that the hiring process was immediately terminated after the arrest.

“The suspect has never worked for the district, never received a salary, and has never been with any of our students,” the statement said.
