Met Gala 2024: WNBA star Angel Reese and golf icon Nelly Korda stun on the red carpet at star-studded bash

WNBA star Angel Reese and golf icon Nelly Korda were among the athletes who hit the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday night.

Celebrities from the music, TV, film and sports worlds came to New York for the annual fundraising gala in Manhattan.

The theme of this year’s Met Gala is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ and the event fell on Reese’s 22nd birthday.

The Chicago Sky star was dressed in 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo. “The “Chi-Town” Barbie is at the Met Gala,” the WNBA’s official X account said. “Congratulations angel!”

The 22-year-old had training camp on Monday morning and will play the preseason match on Tuesday. “Just another day in the life for Angel Reese,” the WNBA added on X.

Meanwhile, Korda, a 13-time LPGA Tour winner, was a guest of Casey Wasserman – head of sports marketing and talent management giant Wasserman.

Korda, 25, was dressed in a red and green floral dress created by Oscar de la Renta. It was her first time at the New York event.

Korda is eyeing a sixth straight victory on the LPGA Tour this week at the Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey.

The Florida native is currently the No. 1 female golfer in the world. She will be looking for a second Olympic gold at this summer’s Games in Paris.

Reese was recently selected seventh overall by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft after a brilliant college career that started at Maryland and ended at LSU.

Ben Simmons also attended the Met Gala and the Brooklyn Nets star wore an interesting outfit that drew scorn from many fans.

Simmons donned a jacket and coat with a plaid pattern on the top, accented with rings, a watch and a briefcase with a huge clock on it.

Sports fans praised Simmons for his style choice, especially after the Nets star played just 15 games this NBA season.

He missed the first 38 games of the season and then played until early March before being ruled out for the rest of the season due to a nerve impact in his lower back.

Social media especially hit the clock case, with many mocking Simmons for missing too much time in recent seasons.

“Wearing a clock while not getting any minutes this season is insane,” one Twitter user wrote.
