At the time, it became the first film since Avatar – the highest grossing film ever – to top the box office for five consecutive weekends.

In the original, late actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020, starred as Black Panther’s title character, amid a cast that also included Michael B. Jordan and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.

Numerous cast members from the first film expressed interest in returning for a sequel, though plans were complicated when Boseman died tragically from colon cancer.

It was later confirmed that there would be plans for a sequel and that the late actor’s role would not be recast.

Filming on the project began in June of last year and continued until the crew finished last March.

The latest trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever confirmed a new Black Panther after the death of King T’Challa and showed a new hero for the first time.

The two-minute, action-packed clip was released by Marvel last month, as it showed someone taking the mantle after Boseman’s character’s death, in addition to showing Ironheart for the first time.

At the very end of the trailer, a woman was seen in a clinging suit much like T’Challa’s, presumably his sister Shuri who is played by Letitia Wright.

Another key moment was the first glimpse of Ironheart in an all-steel suit as she flies in the sky, much like Iron Man.
