Married At First Sight UK’s Matt and Whitney slammed by co-stars after revealing they’re ‘in love’

Matt Murray and Whitney Hughes of Married At First Sight came under fire from their co-stars during Thursday night’s episode, when the pair revealed to the experts that they had fallen in love.

Despite only being together for a week, after leaving their respective husbands and choosing each other, the couple revealed that they “couldn’t” drop the L-bomb.

But the news didn’t sit well with their fellow contestants on the show, with Zoe Clifton joking, “It’s not the f*****g Notebook” after hearing the news.

On Wednesday’s episode, Matt and Whitney saw their co-stars share that they had fallen in love during the Boys and Girls Nights, respectively.

The group was speaking after Matt’s reveal, when Adrian Sanderson admitted he didn’t believe a word of it and said to the camera afterwards, “Do I believe Matt is in love with Whitney? No.

“Do I believe Whitney loves Matt? Absolutely not,’ said Adrian.

And echoing his views, Zoe exclaimed, “Matt tells Whitney he loves her? They’ve known each other for 16 minutes and now he’s throwing “I love you’s”, what’s going on? It’s not the f*****g Notebook.’

Whitney’s reveal got a similar response, with Chanita Stephenson laughing as she asked, “You’ve only been together for a week?”

And as they headed to the final pledge ceremony on Thursday’s episode, Matt and Whitney formed a united front as they showed the comments didn’t bother them.

Sitting in front of experts Paul Brunson and Charlene Douglas, Matt revealed: ‘I fell 100% in love with this woman, 100%’

While Charlene asked, “You said you fell in love with Matt. And Whitney, is it mutual?’

“Absolutely, absolutely,” Whitney replied—before the pair exchanged a very lingering look.

But when she went through another round, Zoe chimed in, “I just feel like it discredits our relationships. If they had a romantic bond, it should have been explored in the outside world.’

“If I felt safe in my relationship, I wouldn’t worry about what other people are doing,” Whitney replied as things heated up.

While Adrian added that he didn’t think it was ‘fair’, he explained: ‘I just don’t think it’s fair if we came from a bad place and had to move mountains to get where we are, but for that someone else just for choose each other is not really fair.’

“If someone says they move mountains in their relationship without disrespect, your relationship is a complete fabrication,” Matt scoffed as he spoke to Adrian.

And while the experts were happy for Matt and Whitney, viewers also took to Twitter to show their shock as the “love” reveal.

One wrote: ‘Matt and Whitney ‘fall in love’ after a fortnight? Hand it in, I’ve had a carton of milk in my fridge for a long time #MAFSUK’

“I’m all for love and couples in love but this just feels different and forced,” wrote another.

Matt was originally paired up with wife Gemma Rose, while Whitney tried to make things work with husband Duka Cavioli – before they all decided to leave the experiment after failing to make a connection.

But when they found one with each other, Matt and Whitney were allowed to reappear on the show as a dating couple — as they neared its final week.
