Man shoots his friend dead for taking a bite out of his girlfriend’s burger

A young man allegedly shot his boyfriend dead after taking a bite out of his girlfriend’s burger, an investigation in Pakistan has concluded.

Suspect Daniyal Nazeer, named after the son of retired Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nazir Ahmed Mirbahar, allegedly attacked his friend when an argument quickly spiraled out of control at the suspect’s house in Karachi.

An investigation into the events of February 8 concluded on Wednesday that Ali Keerio, the son of a sessions judge, was likely shot with a guard’s rifle after he dared to take a large piece of Nazeer’s girlfriend’s burger.

The suspect is said to have ordered two ‘zinger burgers’ for himself and his partner, Shazia, before Nazeer became enraged over his friend’s indiscretion.

Keerio suffered “serious injuries” after being shot and succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, according to local media.

After an investigation that lasted more than two months, investigators concluded that the police officer’s son likely lashed out over the civilian incident.

“Daniyal got into a serious fight with Ali over why he ate half of the burger ordered for his girlfriend Shazia without permission,” the investigating officer confirmed. The week.

“We have arrested the suspect and he is in jail awaiting trial,” the officer added.

Ali Keerio was named locally as the son of Karachi District South judge Javed Keerio.

One message, unsigned, added: “He was my little boy!

‘Then have fun with the angels and may you remain in utter peace with the highest rewards in Jannah.’

Karachi has seen an upward trend in reported violence in recent years.

Between 2022 and 2024 alone, 250 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured as a result of street violence.

Economic conditions, unemployment and lack of recreational opportunities are some of the reasons datum locally due to the wave of violence.

In 2019, a French waiter was shot dead by an aggrieved customer, allegedly for taking too long to deliver a sandwich.

The suspect allegedly insulted the 28-year-old waiter at Le Mistral restaurant in Noisy-Le-Grand before pulling out a 9mm pistol and shooting him, seriously wounding him.

Witnesses then called the police. Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards but were unable to save the victim.

According to witnesses, the customer had been waiting for the sandwich for several minutes and allegedly pulled out the gun after growing tired of the delay.
