A man has died after his car crashed into a tree during a police chase.
The driver, 41, was in a gray Audi and did not have his lights on in High Street South in Dunstable, Bedfordshire when police were alerted at around 10.30pm on Saturday.
He failed to stop for police and a pursuit ensued when the vehicle took off on the A5183 towards Markyate.
Minutes later, the car left the road and struck a tree, police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The officers provided first aid and were later assisted by emergency services.
However, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead shortly before 11:30 p.m.

His relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
In accordance with standard protocols, Bedfordshire Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has since launched an investigation.
A cordon was in place on the A5 between the Kensworth Turn (northbound) and Caddington (southbound) while emergency services responded.
The road has now reopened.
