Katy Perry and Rihanna AI fakes surface depicting them at the 2024 Met Gala… with Perry confirming even her MOM was fooled
The 2024 Met Gala is a celebrity hotbed, although not every celebrity is there, although some creative AI pranksters are trying to make people believe that is the case.
AI-spoofed photos of Katy Perry and Rihanna have surfaced on social media, despite any actual evidence that they ended up on the red carpet.
Perry, 39, took the AI fakes in stride, posting two doctored images of “her” on Instagram, along with a text message from her mother, who was one of many fooled.
“Couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work,” Perry said in the caption of the post, sent to her 207 million followers.
Her mother Mary’s text read: ‘Ha Feather! I didn’t know you went to the Met. What a beautiful dress. You look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float lol.”

Mary’s text also included one of the doctored photos, but Perry responded to the text: “lol mom the AI has you too, BEWARE!”
Perry also shared a tweet from a fan named @bredfaria, who was in New York City awaiting her arrival, featuring a blue butterfly cutout with Katy 143 in black.
“Waiting for you mama @katyperry 143,” he said in the tweet, while Perry’s final slide teased that she is working on new music.
The slide was a short video of her singing into a microphone, although the video was muted so fans couldn’t hear what her new music would sound like, not yet, at least.
One of the images showed Perry in a flowing floral dress that stretched around her with flowers adorning the dress.
Another showed her wearing a gold breastplate with a grassy floral skirt, which had a seemingly similar wet look to Kim Kardashian’s 2019 look.
Perry wasn’t the only celebrity impersonated, with images of Rihanna on the red carpet even though she wasn’t there.
The 36-year-old Barbados resident had planned to attend even though a report came out People claimed she canceled after coming down with the flu.

She teased last week that her 2024 Met Gala look would be much less complex, in an interview with Additional.
‘I’m actually keeping it very simple this year. … It’s about what my makeup and what my hair is going to do,” Rihanna said.
She added that the look was, “Very simple…compared to anything I’ve done,” adding, “I’m showing up for dinner.”
However, it’s unclear if she’ll show it somehow after recovering from the flu.
The Rihanna image that surfaced showed the singer wearing a white dress with green vines and flowers all over it, with a huge round pillow behind her head.
Rihanna has not publicly addressed the fake image on social media at this time.
