Kamala Harris’ final plea to voters is drowned out by police sirens and car alarms as protesters mar DC rally

Sirens and car alarms interrupted Kamala Harris for just a few moments during her closing speech on the 2024 presidential election.

The embarrassing moment for the vice president was gleefully clipped and made viral by the official War Room account for former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Just a few more seconds and Kamala is already drowned out by sirens,” the account boasted of X.

Harris walked onto the stage to applause and cheers from the crowd of 75,000 people who filled the Ellipse, a section of the National Mall with the White House as a backdrop. But as she opened her speech, the sirens started blaring.

“So listen, a week from today you have the opportunity to make a decision that will directly impact your life, the lives of your family and the future of this country that we love,” she told the supporters above the deafening roar.

Trump fans were quick to make fun of the unfortunate event and use it as an opportunity to attack her just seven days after Election Day.

“I’d rather listen to the high-pitched sirens any day of the week,” one person wrote.

“Get used to that sound when Kamala wins!” another person wrote, seemingly implying that crime will increase if she is elected.

“Sirens warn us all she’s not crazy,” a third wrote.

Harris’ crucial final pitch to voters was delivered from the same spot where Trump spoke on January 6, 2021, when he encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol to overturn the 2020 election results.

The striking contrast in the images is what Harris’ campaign was going for, saying they deliberately chose the location.

“Donald Trump sat in the White House and watched the violence unfold on television,” Harris said.

‘He was told by his staff that the mafia wanted to kill his own vice president and Donald Trump responded with two words: what then?

“And that’s the one asking you to give him another four years in the Oval Office?”

Harris’ speech wasn’t just marred by the momentary distraction of what appeared to be police sirens, however.

While there were many enthusiastic supporters in the large crowd – many of whom held signs saying they were voting for the first time – there were also some interruptions from pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Some of them were pictured climbing a fence near the National Mall. They displayed signs and posters with various messages, including “Free all Palestinians” and “stop arming Israel.”

Protesters in Gaza have become commonplace at rallies in Harris, often voicing their disapproval of Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas.

At a rally in Michigan on Saturday attended by former First Lady Michelle Obama, Harris’ opening salvo was derailed by chants of “no more Gaza war” from a member of the audience.

Harris paused as the crowd booed, then said, “As for Gaza, we have to end that war.”

Her comment came in a state where Trump received support from Muslim leaders at a rally.

Tuesday’s meeting outside the White House was not too focused on foreign policy.

Instead, Harris insisted that Trump was a “petty tyrant,” obsessed with “revenge” and “grievance.”

She mentioned the former president’s name 24 times and attacked him from the start, criticizing him for his response to the January 6 insurrection.

Harris also sought to address the area where she is most politically vulnerable: border security.

Trump and Republicans have repeatedly attacked her on the migration issue.

In her remarks, she promised to remove illegal migrants who have come into the country unlawfully if she becomes president.

“When I am president, we will quickly remove those who arrive here unlawfully, prosecute the cartels, and give Border Patrol the support they desperately need,” Harris said.

She reiterated her pledge to pass a border security bill that was defeated in Congress earlier this year after Trump encouraged Republicans to do so.

Harris’ closing meeting focused entirely on her opponent: Donald Trump

She tried to distinguish herself by saying she would be a bipartisan president and listen to experts on issues

Some supporters reported that the line for the rally stretched all the way to the Tidal Basin, just over half a mile away.

“I will work with Democrats and Republicans to work on the border security bill that killed Donald Trump,” she said.

She also noted, “At the same time, we must recognize that we are a nation of immigrants. And I will work with Congress to pass immigration reform, including an earned path to citizenship for hardworking immigrants like farmworkers.”

Her speech also touched on notes from her early career as a prosecutor, before making it clear that she is not Trump and that she will offer a different path forward.

‘It is not my intention to score political points. I’m looking for progress. “I promise to listen to experts, to those who will be affected by the decisions I make,” she noted.

“And two people who disagree with me – unlike Donald Trump – I don’t believe that people who disagree with me are the enemy. He wants to put them in jail. I’ll give them a place at the table.’

Harris called on the country to reject “the schemes of wannabe dictators” and “begin writing the next chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told.”

“I promise to be a president for all Americans,” she promised.

Security was tight at the outdoor event, with metal fencing surrounding the entire area south of the White House as long lines formed to pass through the magnetometers.

Some supporters reported that the line extended all the way to the tidal basin, just over half a mile away.

Thick bulletproof glass lined the front and sides of where Harris spoke.

Helicopters buzzed overhead as the vice president’s arrival drew closer.

Security was seen on the roof of nearby buildings. There were also snipers on the lookout.

But once attendees reached the Ellipse, they were greeted with a party-like atmosphere, where Pretty Tammi the DJ – dressed in Harris’ sorority colors – played modern hits, including from singer and actress Jennifer Lopez.

Now J. Lo will appear alongside Harris at her Thursday night gathering in Las Vegas.

Harris supporters waved American flags as the crowd stretched beyond the perimeter, down Constitution Avenue and up onto the grounds of the National Mall, around the Washington Monument.
