Strength training really burns the fat

I only go to the gym twice a week, but I use heavy weights. For years I’ve done high-intensity cardio like Zumba, but I think it puts a strain on the body. I’m all about longevity so that I can still get off the couch at 65. I have a bar in my living room and every morning, while the boiler cooks, I depend on it. I feel my spine relaxing.

Model Denise Ohnona, left, who made her name as a Kate Moss lookalike, reveals the pressure to look like a supermodel

The less I do to my face, the more I’m told I look like Kate Moss

I’ve been on shoots where they used a lot of makeup and I look nothing like her. I like to look natural. I use Fenty Beauty Match Stix Contour Skinstick (£26, fentybeauty.co.uk), Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick Makeup (£32, sephora.co.uk), Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette (£30, sephora.co.uk) and Colorescience Total Lash Mascara (£45, colorescienceuk.com).

I used to fast, but I can’t do it anymore

I would eat within a six hour window, but scoff at chips and cookies. Now I eat when I’m hungry, and better. For a treat I love one Hu chocolate bar (£4, hollandandbarrett.com). I don’t count calories, but I try to eat more protein. I’ve stopped eating McDonald’s, but I eat steak and this morning I had boiled eggs.

Quitting alcohol was a game changer

My sleep has really improved. I drink Mother Root Alcohol-free Aperitif (£27.95, waitrose.com). It is made from cider vinegar, ginger, chili and honey and is the tastiest drink.

If Kate dyed her hair black, I wouldn’t

It wouldn’t suit me; my natural color is ash blonde. My hair gets the most compliments when I wash it and sleep on it. I don’t add heat; I use heatless curlers for messy waves. And every day I wear one Advanced LED hair growth cap with red light therapy (£439.95, purederma.co.uk) because my hair started falling out – I don’t know if it was a bad diet or hormones – and I was so sad. It’s really growing now.

I am often offered free plastic surgery

But I think there are too many risks. I don’t do fillers. When I was 40 I was being identified in bars, but at 42 I realized it wouldn’t last long. I started thinking, ‘What kind of jaw is this?’ I’ve had a little Botox, but I’m tapering off that now.

I spent a lot on retinol

But it’s just not for me. I can’t get past the flaky skin stage. I’m simple about skin care. I use Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50 (£39.99, facethefuture.co.uk) religious. I wanted a chemical-free cleanser and… Weleda Skin Food nourishing cleansing balm (£13.50, weleda.co.uk) is great. And I swear by a facial, neck and chest massage at night to loosen the muscles. I search bottles Euphoric rain (£22.99, amazon.co.uk), a natural oil that smells amazing.

I once scrubbed my neck with dish soap and baking soda

Now I don’t want physical exfoliants near me! I use every ten days Paula’s Choice Resist Advanced Smoothing Treatment (£40, cultbeauty.co.uk). For tanning preparation I like it AmLactin daily nourishing lotion (£19, amazon.co.uk). Clarins Express self-tanning fresh gel (£28, sephora.co.uk) is the best self-tanner I’ve found.

I do my own microneedling

I think it’s underrated, but I do need a week of rest because my skin goes like sandpaper before it is renewed. I use Dr. Pen (£65.99, amazon.co.uk), then antibacterial Clinisept skin (£12.90, amazon.co.uk).

I don’t want a supermodel style pancake butt

My trainer made me do deadlifts and my butt got huge. I said I had to stop to match the look. Well, I don’t care!
