Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the sickening gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in a wooded area in Belgium, who is believed to have been abused by a dozen other minors.

The girl, who remains unidentified for privacy reasons, was reportedly lured by her teenage boyfriend to a wooded area called Kabouterbos in Kortrijk, West Flanders, during the Easter holidays.

When the boyfriend lured her into the woods, near an area used by mountain bikers, he allegedly attacked his young partner before allegedly letting several other boys have their way.

Prosecutors confirmed they had arrested the suspected perpetrators and taken them in for questioning, but would not specify the exact number of suspects or confirm their ages.

But sources told the Belgian Nieuwsblad that as many as a dozen suspects were involved, the youngest of whom is barely 12 years old and the oldest only 16 years old.

The investigation into the skin crawling incident was conducted in great secrecy by the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office to avoid any chance of shocked family members of the victim and appalled members of the public learning the identities of those involved.

But Newspaper Prosecutors have reported “reprehensible behavior” on the part of the suspects and “vengeful acts,” citing sources close to the investigation who said the alleged perpetrators showed “a total lack of sense of norms.”

The girl is said to have spent two days in the forest, where she was tortured and abused by the gang of minors.

The minimum criminal age in Belgium is 18, which means that the suspected sexual abusers have been sent before a juvenile judge and likely placed in a personal rehabilitation program in youth facilities.

But it is possible that the 16-year-old in question will be treated under adult criminal law, given the exceptional nature of the case.

It is not clear whether each suspect was equally guilty and to what extent he or she participated in the abuse.

The victim is now receiving specialist guidance after her ordeal.
