Eugenie said the name was inspired by people she and her husband “love and admire, past and present.”
She wrote on Instagram earlier this month: ‘2 weeks ago today we welcomed our baby girl into the world. And since then we have had the most special, fun and loving time.
‘We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.
‘Named after three people we love and admire, past and present, including her great-grandmother who we hold close to our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”
Referring to the couple’s other two children, she added, “Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.”
The name Adelaide was partly inspired by Queen Adelaide (1792-1849), married to William IV.
Eugenie wore two wheat ear diamond brooches with her hair down at the evening reception of her wedding, which was commissioned by William IV for Queen Adelaide.
It is believed that the name Annina was inspired by a personal connection.
