Gypsy-Rose Blanchard reveals how she and boyfriend Ken Urker decided on unborn daughter’s name

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard credits her boyfriend Ken Urker with naming their unborn daughter.

At the Munchausen by Proxy victim’s baby shower last month, the expectant parents revealed they would be calling their first child, Aurora Raina.

And on Tuesday, 33-year-old Gypsy-Rose — who spent eight years in prison after being convicted of the second-degree murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard — opened up People about the “backstory” about her future baby’s name.

“Ken came up with that. There’s a whole backstory to it,” she said. ‘Some people think it’s because of the Disney princess.

“Some people think it’s because Kristy’s dog is named Aurora Grace,” she said of her stepmother, adding, “It’s not because of that.”

Instead, Aurora was selected because of the couple’s shared love of the Northern Lights.

“When Ken and I were together seven years ago, we both had a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the correct term is Aurora Borealis,” she said, recalling her time with Urker during her captivity.

“I think it might have been in 2018, when we wrote each other’s future child names on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both chose without even knowing each other chose it.”

Blanchard explained that she reminisced about the name when she separated from Urker and married her now ex-husband Ryan Anderson.

‘When we were apart [it was like] “Oh, Aurora will never be born.” A lot of people think the origin is one thing, but they don’t know that little story,” she said.

And now that she and Uker are weeks away from welcoming their baby girl, the couple is planning their future together.

Gypsy-Rose said that once she is paroled next year, she and her family plan to one day see the Northern Lights with their own eyes.

The term parole is when a prisoner is released early to serve the remainder of his sentence in his own community, with set rules.

Gypsy-Rose previously revealed that she will be out on parole in June 2025, completing her 10-year sentence for first-degree murder.

‘We’ll see one day. After I’m free, we’ll go. We’re going to Sweden,” she explained.

“For the next year, I’m really excited to take it in some kind of clear way [my daughter] out into the world and have a lot of time together with the family.

“Obviously I’m celebrating being free, so Kristy and Dad are going to babysit while Ken and I go on vacation somewhere.”

Gypsy-Rose shocked fans when she announced on her YouTube channel in July that she was expecting a child with her boyfriend.

Baby Aurora Raina is expected to be born sometime in January 2025.
