A former Oregon city councilman went viral after claiming he saw a giant open a huge rock formation in the mountains like a “door” and “peek” out.
James Goble was making his way down Quartzville Drive near the Green Peter Reservoir when he claims he saw a giant peek through a large rock on the side of the road in the Cascade foothills on October 23.
However, the mythical creature disappeared before he could get out his phone to record the ordeal, the former Sweet Home councilor said.
Goble, who is also a production manager for a titanium foundry, has made several videos since his initial theory went viral on TikTok– as he answers questions from followers and returns to the rocky spot.
James Goble was making his way down Quartzville Drive near the Green Peter Reservoir when he claims he saw a giant peeper through a large rock on the side of the road in the Cascade foothills on October 23.
A giant peeked out from behind the ‘door’ in the rock formation, he claims.
In the viral clip which he has since deleted, Goble said: “It looked like someone was staring out of it. Dude, giants are awfully real. I don’t care what anyone says.’
He said that now when he goes out to dinner with his wife, he is called the “giant man” by members of the public who recognize him.
Goble is now returning to the rock to pinpoint the “pivots” and said he will fly a drone over parts of the rocks to look at them in more detail.
James is a former councilman in Sweet Home, Oregon
He has also started discussing fan theories, pointing out the cracks, drag marks and interesting formations. Goble claims his giant sighting was real.
Goble told KOIN 6 News, “The power of social media is great, and I never thought it would go this far. I’ve posted things in the past but only had 60 people following me.
“So when I heard and ‘thought’ I saw something, I made a video afterwards so my friends could see what I (was) seeing.
‘It’s amazing how many people go on adventures to see this. They all need to be careful and not leave any traces of waste. I really hope that some will be lucky like me, and that it will change their lives forever.”
Linn County spokesman Alex Paul tried to dissuade people from exploring the mountainside: “We don’t support people going in there and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers doesn’t want people going in there because of the declining water levels at the Green Peter Reservoir.’
The theories have captured the imagination of many people online.
One person said, “I absolutely believe there are entrances to the inner earth. That rock looks like it was placed there.” And another added: “I wonder if you would point a camera at the rock door to see if it would notice if the door opens?”
However, the mythical creature disappeared before he could get out his phone to record the ordeal, the former Sweet Home councilor said.
Others said they had been there before and had extraordinary encounters.
Another TikToker said, “I was out of that area during the winter years ago and took a photo that captured a “giant” footprint in the snow. I believe the image now.’
And a fourth added: ‘I watched your original and it was definitely a giant closing the rock door.’
Another person wrote: ‘I looked it up on Google maps and even from there you can totally see that it looks like a door. Super strange.’
Other people claim to see the footprints and faces of giants in the rocks behind Goble during his videos.
