Fans have taken to social media to express their frustrations over Nicolas Jackson’s challenge over Takehiro Tomiyasu.

They felt Jackson ‘got away’ with ‘deliberately stamping’ on Tomiyasu during Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old Jackson tried to close down Tomiyasu after passing Conor Gallagher in the middle of the pitch, but ended up crashing into him.

However, it was the fact that the 22-year-old Chelsea star dived in with his studs up that frustrated football fans on social media.

One fan wrote: ‘I thought it was bad, but it also looks very deliberate.’ Another said: ‘Ankle breaker and no card? That makes sense’.

Some fans called out VAR and claimed they were ‘sleeping’ on the job. One furious fan wrote: ‘VAR is sleeping… terribly.’

While one supporter tagged the official account of Professional Game Match Officials and said: ‘WHAT IS YOUR F***ING EXCUSE?’.

Others felt that Chelsea were showing favoritism because Leandro Trossard had been booked for a similar offence.

One fan wrote: ‘And yet Trossard gets booked for a similar, but much tamer and less dangerous tackle.’ Another agreed, writing: “So Trossard gets a card and he doesn’t?”
