Jamie Carragher slammed Luton defender Teden Mengi for ‘giving’ Everton a penalty in their crucial match on Friday evening.

Mengi held Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite during a first-half corner at Kenilworth Road.

The challenge was spotted by VAR and referee Tim Robinson was advised to review the incident on the pitch monitor.

Robinson awarded a penalty and Dominic Calvert-Lewin hammered his penalty through the middle to put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute.

Carragher was unimpressed by the challenge.

‘Complete idiot.’
