A boy has been dragged onto the beach bleeding after being attacked by a shark while snorkelling off a remote stretch of coastline in Western Australia.
The 11-year-old was in the waters off Kurrajong Campground in Cape Range National Park in Western Australia’s Shire of Exmouth when he was mauled by the shark at 3pm Saturday.
Emergency services from St John flew to the area and treated him on the beach before he was airlifted by the Royal Flying Doctors Service for further treatment.
He is now in a serious but stable condition with cuts to his leg at Exmouth Hospital.
A shark alert has since been issued in the area and people have been asked to exercise caution in the waters for now.
