Professional gamer Karel Asenbrener has been found dead at the age of 19 after posting a tweet saying ‘Good night’ on Tuesday.

The esports star’s team, Vitality, broke the news on Wednesday, saying in a statement that they were “deeply saddened” by the “devastating loss,” That reports TMZ.

Asenbrener, who played the 5v5 character-based tactical shooter Valorant, recently revealed that he had spent time in a mental hospital due to depression.

The Czech player told a press conference in February that he was having “a difficult time in personal life” and that he had “been dealing with depression for more than two years”.

The young star explained that he injured himself during the Christmas holidays in Prague and therefore went to a mental health facility.

“After that I had a new fresh start and luckily I was able to get my stuff together.

“It was the hardest time for me as a person and as a professional esport athlete.

Add: “But after that time I knew why I play matches and what my team means to me.”

The young gamer also encouraged others to ask for help when they were struggling.

“Take care of yourself and if you’re going through something like I did, don’t be afraid to reach out to your close friends, your family or your team,” he said.

Harry “Gorilla” Mepham, the assistant coach of Team Vitality, remembered Asenbrener on Twitter.

“I woke up this morning to the news that one of my best friends, someone who really felt like he was my brother, committed suicide. Words cannot describe the sadness or emptiness I feel right now,” Mepham wrote.

“I loved him and always will. I’ll leave this with a quote from his favorite show, and something he used to say to me when I was feeling down: If you feel discouraged, that somehow you’re not enough, set your heart on fire and flame.’ Rest in peace brother, we all love you,’ he concluded.

Asenbrener’s Team Vitality also took to social media to offer their condolences.

“We are heartbroken to share with you that our VALORANT player Karel ‘Twisten’ Aeenbrener passed away last night,” the post read.

“We are deeply saddened by this devastating loss and our initial thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
