Conor McGregor speaks out after Donald Trump’s assassination attempt and hails former president for ‘spitting out bullets’ when he should be ‘touring golf courses on the Mediterranean’

UFC superstar Conor McGregor praised former US President Donald Trump after his assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump’s presidential rally on Saturday was halted after shots were fired as he took the stage. Fortunately, the 78-year-old survived the attack, but suffered a graze to his ear. With the American flag flying behind him, Trump raised his fist in the air as blood trickled down his face before being carried to safety.

The former two-division UFC champion took on X after the failed attempt and praised Trump.

“A 78-year-old multi-billionaire should be on a yacht on the med golf courses,” McGregor wrote. “But he’s not.” “He’s in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God bless Donald! God bless the United States.”

In addition to McGregor, several UFC and MMA figures paid tribute to Trump following the incident. McGregor’s scheduled opponent, Michael Chandler, posted a photo of Trump with his fist in the air and wrote, “fighter.”

“President Trump is the toughest man alive,” wrote avid Trump supporter and former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington. “God bless him and his family right now.”

“God love this man! I’m glad President Trump is okay,” wrote Covington’s bitter rival, Jorge Masvidal. “The left knows no boundaries! They say they are the nonviolent ones. They will stop at nothing! Make sure you take screenshots of lefties celebrating what happened today.”

“Trump is a complete barbarian,” said former middleweight champion Sean Strickland. “Guy gets shot and stays for his people.”

Trump has long had a strong connection to the UFC. During the organization’s early and dark years, the billion-dollar businessman turned politician hosted cards at the Trump Taj Mahal in New Jersey.

Decades later, as MMA became mainstream with the UFC as its flagship promotion, Trump often sat next to UFC president Dana White at the biggest tournaments.

Like the fighters on his team, White took to social media to speak out about the events in Butler.

“I’m on a plane to Italy right now and my phone is blowing up with texts from people letting me know @realdonaldtrump has been shot,” White wrote alongside a photo of Trump on Instagram. ‘I am SICK to my stomach and in complete shock. I still don’t know how bad it is or if he is okay.

“But @mickmaynard just sent me this picture and I’m praying that President Trump is 100% healthy. This picture represents EXACTLY the man I know Donald Trump is. He is the toughest, most resilient, AMERICAN BAD ASS on the planet.

“I hope the coward who shot him gets what he deserves, and I can’t WAIT to get on stage with him on Thursday and introduce him at the Republican Party Convention and tell the WORLD exactly what kind of character the friend and man I KNOW is!!”
