Ben Shephard celebrates his NTA win with wife Annie and their rarely seen son Jack, 19, and jokes 'he's freaking out big time'

Ben Shephard was all smiles as he celebrated his National Television Awards win with his wife Annie and their rarely seen son Jack, 19, in a new Instagram photo.

The presenter, 51, joined his co-presenter Cat Deeley, 49, and the rest of the This Morning team on stage on Tuesday as they won the Best Daytime gong, beating rivals such as Good Morning Britain and Loose Women.

On social media, Ben then shared a photo of himself holding the award while posing with his wife and their youngest son, with Ben joking about his tall teenager towering over the star.

Ben captioned his photo: “So special to share this with Jack before he heads off to college (and yes, he is freaking out). And Annie too.’

Ben and Annie have been married for 22 years. They met at university and share sons Sam, 21, and Jack.

The family photo came after hungover Ben and Cat were happily tucking into bacon sandwiches after their big night on Wednesday morning.

They groaned with delight when chef Jamie Oliver prepared them bacon steaks with chilli, because chilli helps with a hangover, and they confirmed it was ‘very late at night’.

As they proudly held up their gong as the show opened, Cat said, “It’s really tough, isn’t it? You almost lost it this morning, didn’t you?’

Ben said, “We’ve got it here, maybe a little grazing, but that’s another story for another day.”

Cat said: “We won best daytime show at last night’s television awards, it was just fantastic, wasn’t it?”

And Ben said, “The director was out really late last night. It was a very late evening. Luckily Jamie is there in the kitchen.’

Jamie said: ‘Smoky sandwiches with bacon and eggs, brown sauce and chilli. I’ve got you straight. I know what you need when you’ve had a long time.’

“You know what’s the funniest thing?” said Kat. ‘I left quite early as I normally have one of the little boys in bed with me. I call them the creepers.

“And Milo came into my house last night at two in the morning and said, ‘Mom, did you win?’ I said, “Yes, now close your eyes and go back to sleep.”

Jamie added a little chilli is good for a hangover and added: ‘There’s nothing better than a bacon sandwich when you’ve had a few too many glasses of strange white wine.’

It comes after hungover Ben and Cat moaned in pleasure as they tucked into bacon sandwiches on This Morning on Wednesday after nearly losing their NTA’s gong after a ‘late night’

She proudly held up their gong as she opened it and giggling, Cat said to Ben about their gong, “It’s really heavy, isn’t it? You almost lost it this morning, didn’t you?’

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s post-National TV Award hangovers, live on This Morning in 2016, have become the subject of side-splitting legend over the past decade

“We’ve been working really hard to celebrate on behalf of all our fans,” Ben confirmed with a glint in his eye.

He asked Jamie to explain why chili is so good for a hangover.

He said: ‘Chile has a substance called capsaicin, which is nature’s natural form of morphine. It’s antiseptic, it thins the blood, it’s antibacterial, it cleans up all that stuff you had last night.”

It proved to be a winning night for the This Morning team as they took home the award for Best Daytime Show, along with Friday presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Former ITV golden girl Holly was one of the last to arrive on the red carpet as she avoided Cat, Ben and the rest of the This Morning gang who arrived much earlier.

The star, who recently launched her own YouTube chat show, was the picture of elegance in a strapless dress with silver diamond detailing.

Cat, meanwhile, wowed in a red and purple floral dress and statement gold necklace as she put on an animated show with her co-host Ben.
