Raz-B – member of the popular early 2000s boy band B2K – and his wife Mona Li have revealed the death of their three-month-old son.
The couple was hit by the devastating loss of their son named Astro Monte Thornton earlier this week TMZ on Thursday.
Sources close to the family told the publication that the child’s death was “unexpected and sudden” as the cause of death remains unclear.
A family spokesperson told the site: ‘It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De’Mario ‘Raz B’ Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K.
‘The family requests privacy during this difficult time. They really appreciate your love and support.”
On May 18, Raz-B announced on his Instagram that his second child was on the way.

He shared a family photo at the time with the caption, “Right now we are at the hospital getting ready to welcome our newest addition, Astro. [rocket and baby emojis] another baby boy for the Thornton family.”
The couple has a 23-month-old son together named Versai Carter Thornton. Mona Li also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
They made their red carpet debut at Lemuel Plummer’s birthday in Los Angeles in April 2023.
In September 2024, the singer surprised fans when he announced that he was a married man and that they were expecting their first child together.
It’s an interesting time in Raz-B’s life as he reunited with the original lineup of his R&B supergroup B2K earlier this year.
The singer joined Omarion, J-Boog and Lil’ Fizz on the Boys 4 Life tour in celebration of their 25th anniversary.
The concert series was co-led by former child rapper Bow Wow and ran from February 12 to April 19.
Mona Li publicly supported him during the tour while he was heavily pregnant.
