Elvis Star Austin Butler Remembers Lisa Marie Presley After Oscar Nomination Following Her Tragic Death: ‘I Wish I Was Here To Celebrate’

Austin Butler wishes Lisa Marie Presley would be “here to celebrate” after the film based on the life of her legendary father, Elvis, received eight Oscar nominations.

Butler, 31, who was nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of the King, remembered Lisa Marie after her tragic death at age 54 while speaking with the hollywood reporter shortly after the nominations were announced.

‘[This role] It seemed like it was an unscalable mountain in front of me,” he told THR. ‘There were so many pitfalls, so I just focused on one step at a time.

‘And really what mattered to me was honoring the life of this man and his family. And that’s why those moments when Lisa Marie and Priscilla [Presley] I got to see the movie and then I saw them for the first time afterwards… nothing I would do would top that. And especially with Lisa Marie who is not here with us. I wish you were here to celebrate with us today.
