Seyfried played Holmes from her time at Stanford in 2003 (where she made the titular dropout) through the catastrophic collapse of her company Theranos in 2015, spurred by an exposé published in The Wall Street Journal, in the 2022 Hulu limited series”The fallout.”
Theranos claimed to be manufacturing a device that could perform a litany of blood tests with a single finger prick, but infamously it never actually worked. In 2022, Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of defrauding investors.
There is speculation that Seyfried will reprise her role as Holmes in some capacity in the upcoming documentary ‘You Can See Everything’, but it is unclear to what extent she is involved in the documentary.
