Zooey Deschanel, 43, and Jonathan Scott, 45, have given their first interview since getting engaged earlier this year.
The couple said People magazine in their new cover story that they haven’t started planning their wedding yet, but are already living together in Los Angeles.
And they say they get along because the actress and the home improvement specialist are so different.
“Opposites attract,” the Elf star said.
But they did agree that they have one thing in common: they are both “nerds.”

The couple, who met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke in 2019, updated their relationship status to “engaged” in August.
The interior designer spared no expense for the epic proposal and popped the question to the leading lady of (500) Days of Summer in a castle in Scotland.
While explaining to PEOPLE what he likes about his bride-to-be, Jonathan shared that she’s “someone who makes sure you get through the tough moments too.”
He also added that the She & Him singer was someone he “never saw coming.”
The couple revealed that they have yet to plan anything when it comes to their upcoming wedding.
The little singer explained, “We’re basking in engaged bliss and haven’t really discovered anything yet.”
They live together in LA.
The New Girl star and the Property Brother opened up about an awkward moment from the moment they first went official on Instagram.
“When we first started dating, Zooey posted a photo of us together. It may have been the very first time we ever posted anything on social media,” says the Canadian-born television personality.

Recalling how he stumbled upon the comments section, Jonathan added, “And I remember looking at it and seeing the first comment below was, ‘Why the hell is she with a Property Brother?’
Indignantly, Zooey’s fiancee thought, “Excuse me, rude!”
Zooey defended her husband and chimed in during the interview, reassuring Jonathan by saying, “Why shouldn’t I be with you?”
Explaining why she believed they worked so well as a couple, she noted, “Our personalities fit together so well.”
“It’s just that we come from different worlds,” the Yes Man star explained.
With her trademark quirkiness, the raven-haired beauty joked, “We identify as nerds, we’ll let you know.”

Now living together in a house in Los Angeles, the couple is looking forward to the future, years after their first date in an escape room.
Zooey noted that she loved that he sent her an itinerary for the date and joked, “I was like, this is my dream.” I’m a Capricorn.’
While they don’t have a date or location for their wedding yet, the couple added, “We love to throw a party.”
