Zac Efron fans were surprised by his unrecognizable face in a new interview he did Entertainment weekly.
The actor did a promotional interview with the magazine for his upcoming film The Iron Claw, which is about the life of professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich and his family.
In the video interview, 36-year-old Zach was seen with his fuller jawline and facial transformation – something he explained in 2022 – revealing it was the result of his shattered jaw after smashing his chin into a granite fountain – after rumors about plastic surgery had arisen the year before.
Fans seemed shocked when he appeared in the new interview, which was released on Monday.

Others compared him to characters like Thanos in Avengers and even went so far as to mention Prince Farquaad from Shrek.
Other fans reminded everyone of his previous shattered jaw.
In 2022, Zac appeared on the cover of Men’s health magazineand explained what happened to his face – after plastic surgery rumors have been circulating since last year.
In his interview, Zac revealed that he had a nasty accident at home that caused the massive transformation in his face.
The star recalled how he took off a pair of socks while running to his house, causing him to hit his chin against a granite fountain.
Zac said that when he was injured, the masseter muscles on the inside of his face and jaw ‘compensated’ for his injury, increasing in size – hence his remarkable transformation.
Other fans compared him to a character from movies, while others reminded each other of his shattered jaw caused by an accident at home
He says this explains why he looked so different back then. ‘The chewing muscles have simply grown. They just got really big.”
The High School Musical star also claimed not to know that he was a big talking point on social media and had in fact gone viral due to his different-looking jaw until his mother called to ask if he had gone under the knife.
“If I valued other people’s opinions as much as they might think I do,” he told the magazine, “I certainly couldn’t do this job.”
In April 2021, Efron started trending on Twitter after being featured in a video for Earth Day! The musical features a more prominent square chin and heavier jawline.
In the clip, Efron eagerly called Bill Nye a “genius” after learning he and Justin Bieber were working on a fictional Earth Day musical.
It led fans to speculate that the handsome star had sought plastic surgery.

Efron’s friend Kyle Sandilands also spoke on his behalf, saying the Baywatch star would never do such a thing, likening it to an oil painting by one of the old masters.
The Australian radio host, who has known Zac for years, shut down the speculation at the time during The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
“I would know if he had plastic surgery,” Kyle declared, before telling his co-host Jackie “O” Henderson that Zac “of course” had no work done.
He then said that it would be pointless for the High School Musical heartthrob to undergo surgery since he already looks so handsome.
‘It’s like buying a Picasso and letting a child finger it. Why bother?’ he said bluntly.
