Young motorcyclist killed in tragic hit and run outside school as driver flees the scene before dumping car

A young dirt bike rider has been killed in an alleged collision that caused the car’s occupants to flee and ditch their vehicle.

Police said a dark Holden Commodore and the dirt bike were traveling in opposite directions on the Dalrymple Service Road in Townsville about 4.40pm on Tuesday.

The dirt bike rider, a 19-year-old man from Vincent, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, near a school.

Police allege the occupants fled the scene in the Commodore after the crash.

The vehicle was later found abandoned at an address in Marcel Street, Kirwan.

The investigation into the people in the Commodore is ongoing.

Police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or camera footage to come forward.
