Yellowstone’s surprising connection to Australia… and it’s not actress Jacki Weaver

Yellowstone took the world by storm in 2018 when the neo-western debuted starring beloved rancher John Dutton, his fiery daughter Beth and her handsome love interest Rip Wheeler.

And Australian fans are eagerly awaiting the season 5B premiere Stan on Monday night at 6:30 p.m., picking up where the nail-biting finale of part one left off.

Many fans may not know that the show has three connections to Australia.

The series stars Brisbane-born actor Finn Little, who plays Rip and Beth’s ‘adopted’ son Carter.

Finn has become a respected actor after landing the role during season four of the show.

He is also known for playing Gilles in the series Tidelands alongside Elsa Pataky.

Australian actress Jacki Weaver has also had a recurring role as savvy businesswoman Caroline Warner in Yellowstone since 2021.

Her character Caroline is president of Market Equities, a company that plans to buy out several landowners in Montana to build an airport.

Meanwhile, the music for Yellowstone spin-offs 1883 and 1923 was composed by Breton Vivian, an English-Australian composer.

His work on the series earned him an Emmy Award nomination, BMI Awards and a Hollywood Music in Media Award.

Breton also worked on Justin Baldoni’s feature film debut Five Feet Apart.

The series stars Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes.

Season 5B was originally going to be the final installment of Yellowstone after Costner’s departure as lead character John Dutton.

Costner revealed on Instagram in June that he would not return to the show for an appearance in season 5B, which premieres on November 11.

‘Hi everyone. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that after a year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that needed to be done, and thinking about Yellowstone – that beloved series that I love, that I know you love it – I just realized I can’t continue Season 5B or the future,” Costner announced somberly as he stared into the camera.

Previous reports indicated that Costner was likely done with the series for good after conflicts between himself and producers over salary, his schedule and his availability to film his multi-part Western epic Horizon: An American Saga.

Despite the initial announcement that season 5B would mark the end of Yellowstone, work has since been underway on a season six focusing on the characters of Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser (Rip).

The series stars Brisbane-born actor Finn Little, who plays Rip and Beth’s ‘adopted’ son Carter.

Entertainment industry newsletter Puck reported that the final half of the fifth season will not conclude Sheridan’s epic Western series as previously believed.

The newsletter stated that Hauser and Reilly were in the process of signing new contracts with Paramount Network, either for a sixth season or a spin-off series, according to TVLine.

In March, Reilly told Radio Times that “discussions” were taking place, but added: “Don’t believe everything you read. It’s just nonsense.’

Yellowstone’s final episode, season five, premieres November 11 only on Stan.
