Yankees reach decision on manager Aaron Boone’s future after humiliating Dodgers World Series loss

The Yankees have reportedly made a decision on manager Aaron Boone’s future following the team’s devastating World Series loss to the Dodgers.

LA won the series in five games on Wednesday night as they staged a comeback from 5-0 to earn a 7-6 win in front of the home fans in New York.

And while Boone has been the subject of criticism this series, he is expected back as team manager next year. according to SNY.

The site noted that the Yankees have a contract option for Boone next year, so an extension could come this offseason so Boone doesn’t operate as a “lame duck.”

Additionally, the report stated that Boone – prior to the postseason – would likely have to win at least two rounds in the postseason to keep his job.

Aaron Boone will reportedly return as manager of the New York Yankees in 2025

Boone was widely criticized for his decision to use Nestor Cortes in Game 1 of the World Series

He did, of course, when the Yankees captured the American League pennant before losing to the Dodgers.

While Boone’s star forward Aaron Judge hit just .222 in the World Series (and an even worse .184 overall in the postseason), the manager came under fire for his decision to play Nestor Cortes in the 10th inning of a High leverage game. 1.

With the Yankees leading 3-2 and only two outs needed for the win, Boone turned to Cortes on the mound, despite the fact that he had not pitched since September 18.

The move quickly backfired when Cortes allowed a walk-off Grand Slam to Freddie Freeman.

According to SNY, the decision to include Cortes in the game was viewed within the Yankees organization as a “close decision that could have gone either way.”

This postseason represented Boone’s best performance in his seven years as Yankees manager, but he will look to take the Bronx Bombers one step further next season.
