Chelsea’s WSL clash with Liverpool is called off after just SIX MINUTES due to a frozen pitch, despite the game passing an inspection just two and a half hours before kick-off, as Emma Hayes criticizes the conditions of the ” ice rink”.

  • The court was considered playable at 9:30 in the morning, hours before the start of the game.
  • Hayes spoke to frustrated fans to say the call was “suitable for the players.”
  • The decision followed several other postponements due to severe conditions.

Chelsea versus Liverpool was canceled after just six minutes of play in the Women’s Super League after the surface was deemed unplayable.

There was a pitch inspection at 9:30 this morning before the game at Kingsmeadow, and the pitch was de-iced just minutes before kick-off.

But just as the game was to start, referee Ben Hair stopped play and postponed the match, drawing the ire of the players and fans, and Chelsea manager Emma Hayes speaking to supporters on the ground.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes spoke to supporters after Chelsea versus Liverpool was postponed six minutes after the game.

Supporters were forced to wait over half an hour for the result of the inspection, with many of them left frustrated, especially away supporters who had traveled to the capital from Merseyside.

There were doubts when confirmation came that the game would still start at 12:30, the referee halted the process and spoke to both Hayes and Liverpool boss Matt Beard.

Liverpool players then left the pitch before it was confirmed that play would be abandoned, resulting in boos from the stands as Reds players showed their appreciation to the traveling supporters.

Hayes, speaking to fans, said: “The decision to call it off at this time is wrong for now, but right for the players.”

He then told BBC Sport: ‘You could see it’s like an ice rink. It is not for the mangers to determine. We have to have underfloor heating to take our game seriously.

‘The game should never have started. Everyone wants to start the game, but the outside parties have to execute those decisions. The FA is not here. No game should be cancelled, we need underfloor heating.
