WWE legend Jerry Lawler is OUT of ICU after suffering a ‘massive stroke’

WWE legend Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is recovering well from a ‘massive stroke’ earlier this week and is now out of the ICU.

A post on his Instagram on Thursday afternoon, from his fiancée Lauryn McBride, revealed that The King will soon be returning to the comfort of his home.

‘Jerry is out of the ICU and will be returning home to Florida for outpatient rehabilitation for his limited speech and cognitive abilities. The doctors are hopeful of a full recovery and Jerry hopes to be back with his fans very soon. -Lauryn #LongLiveTheKing.’

Lawler was photographed wearing a Cleveland Browns jersey and the same Royal Rumble cap he has had throughout his time in the hospital.

The positive news follows a statement on Wednesday that while his speech is “limited,” he is expected to make a “full recovery.”

Jerry Lawler, 73, was rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke at his home in Fort Myers, Florida.

‘Update on Jerry: after suffering a massive stroke on Monday. He is now recovering in a hospital in Fort Myers, FL,” he said.

‘Her speech is limited, but with rehabilitation she will make a full recovery. She thanks everyone for the continued prayers and will be back in the near future.’

The King was photographed wearing a WWE Royal Rumble cap alongside legendary wrestling manager Jimmy Hart.

The 73-year-old man fell ill Monday afternoon after suffering a stroke at his home in Fort Myers, near Cape Coral, according to PWInsider.

Lawler has suffered from serious health problems in the past, first in 2012 when he had a heart attack while commentating on an episode of ‘Monday Night Raw’.

Just 10 minutes before the medical emergency, he was participating in a tag team match against CM Punk and Ziggler along with Randy Orton.

Ziggler had frequently hit Lawler in the chest with his elbows, though Lawler and Orton ended up winning the match.

‘The King’ also suffered a stroke at his home in Memphis in March 2018. He later claimed that he was unable to speak for three days and only regained his speech when he finally woke up in hospital.

A statement on Lawler’s Twitter on Wednesday revealed that it should eventually return to normal.

That year, he was able to make all of his appearances during the WrestleMania 34 weekend in New Orleans and was even cleared to wrestle.

Lawler has been involved in WWE wrestling for over 50 years, starting in the ring in 1970 in his hometown of Memphis. He has been in and out of retirement, but remains a 70-year-old independent wrestler.

His most recent match was against 60-year-old Scott Steiner last year, but it ended in a no-contest.

‘El Rey’ made his in-ring debut in the 1970s and remains an independent boxer today.
