The largest cruise ship in the world, standing at 1,200 feet in length, has been labeled a “monster” on social media.
Icon of the Seas, which will first launch in January 2024, has been blasted online for its appearance.
One Twitter user commented, “Who decided this ‘monstrosity’ was a good idea?”
A second added: “Royal Caribbean’s decision to stick to the “of the seas” naming convention for their ships after the pandemic is kind of funny. “Ah yes, who can wait to ride the Icon of Disease!”.
The ship features 20 decks, enough restaurants and catering services to feed 7,600 passengers, and even a water park.
There will be over 40 dining, drinking and entertainment options on board, many of which are included in the cruise price
The gigantic ship is a whopping 365 meters long – about 1200 feet – and weighs a whopping 250,800 tons
The huge cruise ship was built for Royal Caribbean at a shipyard in Finland
The ship will also have other bars and restaurants, a surfing simulator, mini golf course, sports court and rock climbing area.
In addition to the water park, travelers can enjoy the AquaDome, which features shows, a large viewing area and the tallest waterfall at sea
The ship will be released by Royal Caribbean after being built at the Meyer Turku yard ahead of her maiden voyage in January next year.

“We’re positioning it as the ultimate family vacation and when you step back and look at all the energy and time that went into creating this ship, it’s amazing,” said Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley.
In fact, the 7,600 expected passengers won’t even reach the ship’s full capacity, which will be closer to 10,000 people thanks to the additional 2,350 crew members on board.
If aboard the world’s largest cruise ship isn’t glamorous enough for passengers, they’ll also have the luxury of being able to enjoy the world’s largest water park at sea.
It will contain no less than six record-breaking slides, as well as seven swimming pools and nine whirlpools for those who want to relax.
The ship will be released by Royal Caribbean after being built at the Meyer Turku yard ahead of her maiden voyage in January next year.
Royal Caribbean already holds the title of the world’s largest cruise ship, as the Wonder of the Seas ship is 350 meters tall, with 18 decks compared to the Icon’s 20.
In addition to the water park, travelers can enjoy the AquaDome, which features shows, a large viewing area, and the tallest waterfall at sea, which is 16 meters high.
The entertainment zone will also include a dedicated green space known as Central Park, a “chill island” pool deck, and a swim-up bar.
The ship will also have other bars and restaurants, a surfing simulator, a mini golf course, a sports field and a rock climbing area.
There will be more than 40 dining, drinking and entertainment options, many of which are included in the cruise price.
There are 28 different types of accommodation, with several options for families, the option of having a cabin with an ocean view, as well as larger cabins for those traveling in groups.
To top it off, passengers travel through the Caribbean on their journey and get the chance to spend a day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island resort.

Icon of the Seas will also be Royal Caribbean International’s first ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology as the company pushes toward clean energy sources.
Thanks in part to “other proven applications” such as shore power and waste heat recovery systems, Icon is touted as Royal Caribbean’s most sustainable ship to date.

A statement from Royal Caribbean published on June 22 read: ‘During her initial series of sea trials, Icon of the Seas traveled hundreds of miles, during which the main engines, hull, braking systems, steering, noise and vibration levels were all tested. ‘
“Everything was ready on time as scheduled, even though her departure was delayed because of the wind.”
