Woman refuses to pay for $200 Chanel perfume after daughter breaks it

A woman has come under fire for ‘refusing’ to pay her boyfriend back for the $200 bottle of designer perfume that broke her four-year-old daughter.

Ella* was content to leave her child with her friend, Charlotte*, while she had to go out to run an emergency errand.

The mother was concerned about Charlotte’s spotless home, but her friend assured her that she would be happy to watch her daughter for a few hours.

But Ella was shocked to find a furious Charlotte and a sobbing child on her return.

The friend revealed that the child shattered an expensive bottle of Chanel perfume and that she expected to be reimbursed for it.

Ella recalled that her daughter “couldn’t stop crying” when she went to pick her up and was confused about the order of events.

‘[Charlotte] told me to pay her back for the perfume, and she said it in a tone that suggested it was perfectly normal to expect me to do this,” the mother said Children’s spot.

But she was confused because she expected her friend to supervise her daughter and should have known she was playing with an expensive item.

‘That’s what my daughter told me then [Charlotte] explicitly told her to use the ensuite with the “nice bottles of perfume on the sofa,” the mother said. ‘

The little girl said she just picked up a bottle to look at it when it slipped, hit the sink and then hit the floor tiles.

She immediately confessed her mistake and apologized, but Charlotte was furious.

She texted her friend to find out when to expect the money in her account.

‘I refused. I explained that she should have put the bottles away and out of her reach since she knew she was babysitting and had specifically told my daughter to use that toilet,” Ella said,

The two friends have not spoken since meeting and the mother revealed that she has no intention of ever contacting again.

The child also revealed that she just picked up a bottle of perfume to look at it when it slipped, hit the vanity and then hit the floor tiles.

Ella’s story sparked a heated debate with strong views from all sides.

It eventually made it to Reddit, where a woman complained that her boyfriend’s child vomited on her $7,500 couch and refused to pay her back the damage.

The woman, Hannah, complained that she is childless and does not allow small children into her home because her dogs are afraid of them.

Another woman in her group of friends, Jessica, is a single mother of two toddlers who has been known to “run wild and make a mess.”

“My husband and I are the only ones who can host people in our house because it’s big enough, and I usually have people later in the day, around 7 p.m., because most of us are free then,” she said in a Reddit -message.

People debate whether parents should pay for their children’s mistakes

“I had a gathering last weekend, a barbecue before dinner,” she explained. “Everyone was invited and Jessica asked if she could bring her kids because she can’t afford a babysitter.”

“I said no because of my dogs, and also because I don’t want her baby and toddler in my house.”

Hannah said Jessica had previously snuck her kids in while Hannah was in the bathroom and kept trying to “push them off to other people who didn’t want to hold them so she could relax.”

“One of the kids also puked on my $7,500 white couch, which I had to replace, and Jessica refused to pay for it.”

Hannah then explained that Jessica “blew up” over the incident and was angry with the group for “excluding her” from their hangouts.

She then wondered if she was “too hard” on her friend and should have just let her bring the kids back.

A woman was upset after her boyfriend’s toddler threw up on her $5,000 couch and ruined it

Many were torn and couldn’t decide who was wrong.

“Parents must pay for their child’s mistakes,” said one woman. ‘Unfortunately, parents and children are placed on a pedestal where the rules of a decent person do not apply. If your child swapped with a dog, people would be unanimous in their support.’

“This is ridiculous,” added another. “A child’s mess is always on the parent or adult who is meant to watch them.”

But others did not think that small children should be held accountable for their actions.

“If you can afford a $7,500 couch, you can afford to have it replaced,” one man wrote.

“Life happens and kids make mistakes,” said another. “It’s not that serious.”
