Emergency services rushed to the scene and quickly tried to free the 69-year-old woman from the Toyota, but she could not be saved.

The 16-year-old driver of the allegedly stolen Audi was later arrested and taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant leg wounds.

He is currently under police guard in hospital.

Queensland police are investigating whether the teenager ran a red light before the Audi crashed into the Toyota sedan.

Chief Inspector Adam Guild said the massacre began when the 16-year-old male perpetrator allegedly hijacked a car from a female victim at gunpoint.

Police set up cordons and patrols in the Moreton Bay area to locate the suspected stolen vehicle, he said, but the blue Audi sedan crashed at the McClintock-Dohles Rocks Road intersection.

Newly elected Queensland Premier David Crisafulli issued a statement in which X expressed his condolences to the elderly victim’s loved ones and family members.

“I am receiving ongoing briefings regarding the tragic incident that occurred at Murrumba Downs this morning,” the statement said.

“Although the investigation is still in its early stages, the news of what happened is, as it was for me, harrowing for the people of Queensland.

“A family is coping with the loss of a loved one and the thoughts and prayers of the entire state are with them.”

Two police officers were also injured when the suspected stolen vehicle crashed into their police vehicle.

Two other patients were also injured after the horror accident and were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
