Woman is fighting for her life after horror crash on the M1 on the Gold Coast
A woman fights for her life after a horror accident on a busy highway.
Emergency services rushed to an on-ramp on the M1 Pacific highway at Molendinar on the Gold Coast after a collision between a ute and a sedan on Tuesday evening.
Queensland Police were told the ute was traveling southbound on the Smith Street highway ramp and had slowed to merge with traffic when the yellow sedan crashed into the rear of the vehicle at high speed.
A female passenger, 32, from Nerang, was freed from the wreckage of the sedan and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the sedan, a 34-year-old man from Nerang, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is in a stable condition.
Two others were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
Harrowing photos from the aftermath of the crash show the wreckage of the sedan crumpled beneath the water tank.
A portion of the Pacific Motorway was closed for much of the night as forensic officers examined the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit investigation into the crash continues.
