Why did Christine Quinn leave Selling Sunset and the Oppenheim Group?

When Selling Sunset premiered on Netflix in March 2019, Christine Quinn quickly became one of the breakout stars.

The hit reality show follows the explosive feuds of a young, beautiful group of brokers at a luxury real estate firm called the Oppenheim Group.

Proud of her status as the resident “bad guy,” Christine immediately established herself as a compulsively watchable presence — though some viewers were so outraged by her antics that she claimed she had to install a tiger on her property for safety.

But last August, Christine shocked the public by announcing that she was leaving both Selling Sunset and the Oppenheim Group.

Now, as season six bows without hair on Netflix, DailyMail.com reveals why the blonde bombshell walked away from the gig that made her a household name:

CLAWS TO THE CO-STARS

Christine made herself an indispensable character on Selling Sunset with her reliably venomous comments about the rest of the cast.

Some of her sharpest barbs were reserved for Chrisshell Stause, who was at one point dating Jason Oppenheim, the president of their brokerage.

Christine described Chrisshell at various stages as having a “victim mentality,” a “kiss-a**,” acting “fake,” and acquiring lists by “f***ing” their boss.

“Seriously, that bastard should fucking have a Sunglass Hut, because she’s so damn shady,” Christine said angrily during a rant about her nemesis.

Meanwhile, Chrisshell accused Christine of it Vulture of attempting to “tell a false story when I was going through my divorce, and I had to get both parties to confirm it wasn’t true, then threaten legal action.”

Before her relationship with Jason, Chrisshell was married to This Is Us heartthrob Justin Hartley – and the emotional roller coaster she went through when their relationship fell apart was caught on camera for Selling Sunset.

Christine has also crossed swords with her co-star Emma Hernan, who has accused her of bribing one of Emma’s clients into leaving her – a claim Christine denies.

Mary Fitzgerald, who was personally close to Christine before selling Sunset, saw their bond fray during their time on the series.

Even Heather Rae Young, whom Christine was largely friends with, got it in the neck because of “the lack of wheels turning there.”

Christine took her sour tongue as a sign of being honest and said, ‘Only my t***s are fake. For example, I’m not fake.’

SPACE OF LUXURY

Christine became as notorious for her comfort as she was for her ferocious rivalry with her co-star.

When planning her engagement party, she flippantly explained that she wanted a “casual” fling and then, by way of example, expressed a desire to have a live zebra on hand and have Cirque Du Soleil performers from Las Vegas in to fly.

Her wedding to retired tech entrepreneur Christian Richard was a Gothic-themed blowout that saw the bride decked out in a screaming camp black dress.

Real snow was sprinkled around the winter wonderland event, which included live swans and black stallions, as well as a bleeding wedding cake with a gargoyle on top.

However, a regular part of a wedding she went without was speeches, because “the last thing I want to see is people crying, squealing, sneezing in their damn beige dresses and messing around, waving because they’re too drunk.” . I don’t want to do it!’

Her extravagance as a hostess at one point led her to throw a “burgers and Botox” bash where her friends could indulge in both.

THREATS, LIES AND A HARD PREGNANCY

After receiving death threats because of the show, she told the Daily star in 2020 that she had enlisted a tiger as part of her home security.

Despite her circumstances, she said she is “grateful in this position.” You only get hated when you’ve done something great. That’s how I like to look at it.’

Adding to the pressure, while Christine was wrapping up a season of Selling Sunset, she went into labor early and had to have an emergency C-section.

Christine and her husband welcomed a baby boy named Christian in May 2021, but his arrival was preceded by a difficult pregnancy.

She later gave an interview ET Canada where she candidly discussed that she had postpartum depression during the filming of Selling Sunset.

To make matters worse, the show was edited to hide her pregnancy and Christine faced backlash from viewers as a result.

They edited me from you know, breasts up, so I got a lot of backlash on social media saying, “I can’t believe you’re doing yoga two weeks after giving birth after an emergency C-section,” she said. .

She added that she was treated in an “extremely hurtful” manner by her co-stars, despite being “definitely” open with them and the producers about her issues.

“They laugh at me being late on the show. “Oh, Christine is late. Oh, Christine is late,” she told the outlet.

“And it’s because I was literally having panic attacks and I was worried about my pregnancy and something going wrong because every time I was at work, I was walking to work.” It was a lion’s den and these girls faced me. And it was really, really hard.’

Christine’s water broke prematurely while she was filming Selling Sunset, propelling her into a turbulent delivery in which both she and the baby nearly died.

“Hyperventilating from the excruciating pain, I was immediately taken to an emergency c-section as both of our heartbeats immediately plummeted. Baby C umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck,” she wrote on Instagram.

Baby C was seconds away from failing. The surgeons didn’t even have time to count their tools before stitching me up while I was flatlining.”

ACCUSATIONS OF BRIBERY AND THE GREAT ESCAPE

Christine’s drama on Selling Sunset came to a head in the fifth season when she denied her co-star Emma Hernan’s allegations that she bribed a client.

The sensational accusation was that Christine employed a third party to offer the client $5,000 to stop using Emma as a broker.

“Charging someone with a criminal tort is not only defamatory, but you can’t afford my lawyers,” Christine said. People in answer.

So it’s not funny to say. I would never bribe a customer. I’ve never bribed a customer. I don’t have to bribe a customer, because they automatically work with me.’

By a few months later, last August, a TMZ report had revealed that Christine had decided to leave the reality show that made her a star.

As it turns out, she had indeed decided to dump the Oppenheim Group in April 2022 so she could start a crypto real estate brokerage with her husband.

‘I canceled my contract when the brokerage started. I had to make a business decision that was for me, so I had to end the contract so I could move it to my brokerage,” she shared People last August.

A few months later, Jason, who had been a target of Christine’s bile due to his romance with Chrisshell, recounted Page six that viewers were “tired” of Christine and that her departure “gave a breath of fresh air to the office and to the show.”

In a reunion episode of Selling Sunset, he aptly noted that Christine “if she changes her behavior” may be allowed to rejoin the Oppenheim Group, “but I have to say there’s no place right now” for her at the company.

SO WHAT DOES CHRISTINE SAY?

Leading up to the sixth season – the first without Christine – she revealed that she refuses to watch Selling Sunset because she feels it distorts her friends.

“I have my girls that I absolutely adore, and I support them so much. But for me, I don’t think I’ll be watching the show just because I want to know them for who they are and not what they’ve been edited to be,” she told E! News.

Christine also revealed that she is no longer “actually on bad terms” with Chrisshell, despite their awkward comparison on the show.

When Christine tweeted to Chrishell that she was “open to reconciliation,” Chrishell liked the post, leading to what Christine has described as “a cute little conversation.” So who knows what the future will bring?’
