Travel experts have given a taste of what it’s really like to fly in the world’s ‘strangest’ business class.
YouTube creators Kara and Nate, from Nashville, Tennessee, recently hit the airwaves again in a video published on Daily Drop.
The husband-and-wife duo spent a total of eight hours in Air New Zealand business class, spread over two separate flights, the first from Sydney to Auckland and then on to Tahiti.
As he embarked on the trip, which cost the couple $3,472, Nate explained how he had been warned in advance about the configuration of the seats on board, labeling them as “one of the worst in the sky.”

In the clip, the couple began flying through Air New Zealand check-in and explained that a benefit of their tickets meant they had access to the airline’s business lounge.
And the couple took advantage of the offerings – which included a selection of both hot and cold dishes and handcrafted coffee – before heading to their flight.
Kara and Nate, who have visited a whopping 106 countries, then boarded the Triple 7 plane for the first part of their trip, which would last three hours.
But as they squeezed through the business class area, Kara simply exclaimed, “This is so weird.”
From her chair, she said, “I’ll let the initial shock sink in and then I’ll give you a tour of the chair.”
Kara, who was treated to a complimentary welcome drink, described the lounger itself as ‘quite comfortable’ before praising the on-board entertainment for its ‘huge selection’.
But when the camera returned to Nate, he exclaimed, “Air New Zealand wins the award for the most awkward seat configuration in business class…
‘I’m just looking at the heads of many more people. Somehow I feel like I’m bothering people just by putting my feet up.’

Despite the grumbling, Kara added, “I just want to point out that any day in business class is light years better than a day in economy class.”

“But it’s also just fun to be a little bit cocky.” I promise I won’t be spoiled.’
Later, she tried out the world’s clumsiest buddy seat, which apparently doubled as a footrest.
Other perks of the flight included a range of outlet offers, free WiFi and on-board food.
Trying to come up with an overall score to represent the experience, Nate said, “I’m coming to realize that the challenge with the scoring system is that I don’t know exactly what I’m comparing this flight to.
‘This flight is less than three hours, so if you compare it to a domestic first class flight in the US it is obviously much better, even taking into account the uncomfortable seating arrangement.
In his closing remarks, Nate said: “That was the most awkward business class seat I have ever sat in.”
“This is much better than sitting right next to a stranger and a chair that barely reclines considering it lies flat.”
The business class area on the second leg of the journey – which lasted five hours – was very similar, but was instead equipped with ‘mood lighting’ that gave the cabin a purple hue.
“So far everything feels pretty much the same, maybe a little newer,” Kara explained.

But once the chairs turned into beds, they both agreed it was “so cozy” and “super comfortable.”
The couple scored the entire Air New Zealand business class experience – including the lounge, food, seat and bed to name a few – a respectable 71 out of 100.
