West Ham’s Hawa Cissoko has received racist and threatening messages on social media after she was sacked against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Cissoko was shown red in the closing minutes of the game after throwing a punch to Villa’s Sarah Mayling. The defender then got involved in an altercation with the Villa bench as she left the field.
Hammers boss Paul Konchesky was also sent off for ‘aggressive behaviour’ after working with members of the Villa coaching team.
Sportsmail has learned that Cissoko has since been the target of threatening messages, some of which are racist in nature.
The defender himself tweeted on Saturday evening: ‘But luckily I’m touched by very few things, huh! Because between the nonsense and the (very violent) insults being said! That’s committing suicide!’

West Ham will not comment further at this stage, but said the matter is being dealt with internally.
The Hammers defeated Villa 2-1 despite the late elimination. Goals from Dagny Brynjarsdottir and Honoka Hayashi had given them a 2-0 lead before Kenza Dali pulled one back in the second half. Alisha Lehmann also missed a penalty for Villa.
Speaking about the incident with Cissoko after the game, Villa boss Carla Ward said: “I’ve never seen anything like it in a match, the slap in the face from Cissoko is not acceptable.

On his departure, Konchesky added: ‘Is it hard? Probably because I stand up for my player saying things to her.
“Whatever the consequences, I’ll take it. We don’t want to see that, I get it, but I stand up for my players, so I did.’
