Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. shares his fears for his mother’s drinking

Wendy Williams has checked into a spa, a representative for the talk show legend has confirmed.

“Wendy is in an institution and trying her best to do her best. She takes it day by day,” revealed her manager, Will Selby ET Online.

“I feel like everyone is just spreading negative information about her and that’s the focus,” Selby told ET Online. “Why don’t we stop for a second and just say, ‘Hey, how’s she?’ Is she okay today?’ Why isn’t that the focus? Why don’t we talk about that every day?

Williams, 58, suffers from a range of medical issues, including lymphedema and Graves’ disease, and also faced the end of her long-running talk show after 13 years on the air.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Williams representatives for comment.

Citing the various challenges Williams has faced over the years, Selby added, “Just understand that she’s a human being going through a lot. She has a lot to deal with and please support her.”

For now, the legendary radio presenter is focusing on her future.

“She only thinks about things she wants to do in her life,” he added. “She’s just thinking about Wendy 2.0 and her new chapter in her life, and the things she wants to achieve, and that’s our focus.”

It all comes after Wendy’s son Kevin Hunter Jr. spoke out about his concerns for his mother, from the fear that her entourage would take advantage of her to her drinking.

Speak with The sun, Kevin, 22, described how his mother’s drinking affects her body differently than others. His mother, who suffers from various health problems, cannot process the alcohol in the same way as an average individual, Kevin claims.

“I know the rate at which she is using alcohol is not like a normal person – and we’ve talked about it. I’ve said, “This is something that you don’t know how to normally approach, and that’s fine.”

“And it’s gotten to the point where it can indeed have the effect that it can be deadly because it affects her much worse than a normal person because it stays in her system,” he said.

“There are a lot of people who are very aware that there is a problem with her drinking, and how to fix that problem, but I think these people are taking advantage of it while playing it out to make it seem like they’re not causing the problem,” he said.

Kevin also took aim at Wendy’s team, claiming that they “took advantage” of Wendy in a time of vulnerability.

“What has been made more important by those around her is that while her health may not be very good, she does need to continue to earn an income, and in my opinion that shouldn’t be a priority at all,” he said.

“And whoever’s hired, they’re taking advantage of someone who needs to get better.”

In his eyes, Wendy’s inner circle has only encouraged her to drink.

“If they don’t provide it, they’re definitely enabling a type of personality and giving her the go-ahead to drink,” he claimed.

Wendy was spotted in several bars in April, but her publicist Shawn Zanotti insisted it was all just a “party.”

Tumultuous times: Williams, 58, suffers from a range of medical issues, including lymphedema and Graves’ disease, and has also weathered the end of her long-running talk show.

Kevin said his mother’s health has deteriorated since he took care of her last year.

While caring for his mom from late 2021 to spring 2022, Kevin said his mom was exercising and eating healthier.

He also says that he took her to restaurants where alcohol was not served.

Kevin also claimed that his mother signed contracts during rehab last year and immediately after her stint.

“They had her in a position where she agreed to a lot that she shouldn’t have. When I heard that, it turned me off,” he said.

“When I tried to try to know what the intent of everyone around her is, the first thing I thought was, okay, this is the team she wants around her.

“But once I heard she agreed to do things around her rehab, I thought, ‘Okay, they’re abusive.'”

Wendy was placed under financial guardianship last year and Kevin also brought up issues he had with her guardian Sabrina Morrissey.

Selby shut down allegations against him when asked to comment on the allegations by The Sun: “No comment because half of this stuff isn’t even true, most of this is false.”

He also claimed that he tried to talk things out with him back in April.

“I was in Miami with Kevin. I forced him into a conversation because he seemed a little unsatisfied. I’ve spoken to him personally, 1000%. I was like, “If there’s a problem, let’s talk. If there’s a problem, let’s have a conversation,” he said.

Zanotti also refrained from commenting to The Sun, but denounced his claims to ET Online: “This publication has released false stories with the intent to release stories without fully verifying the information, which is a detriment to the public, and is unprofessional and unethical. We ask that the world continue to pray for Wendy’s well-being as she continues to recover from a very traumatic two years.”

Selby added in his own comments to ET Online, “Taking advantage of her for what? To get what? To do something? I’m not here to brag, but I was doing fine before Wendy came and I insisted on helping her because she asked for my help.

“Wendy is under guardianship. Everything she does is approved by the guardianship. A court-appointed guardianship. So nobody, even if they want to take advantage of her — everything has to be approved by that court.

“So, any kind of business dealings that we do, Wendy, myself, and everyone — we have to get custody to sign off on it. So how could anyone take advantage of her?’
