A representative for Johnny also issued a statement amid the “unfounded” rumors, saying, “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega.”

“He never met her or talked to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor is he supposed to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors designed to damage his reputation and career.”

Last year, in June, unconfirmed rumors circulated that Depp would play a role in Beetlejuice 2 when he appeared on the cast list on Google searches, sparking excitement among fans.

The speculation arose shortly after his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard ended, leading to the actor being awarded $15 million in damages from the Aquaman actress.

Production for the upcoming sequel officially began a few months earlier, on May 10 in London. Winona Ryder reprized her role of Lydia Deetz in the film, with Jenna playing her daughter.

Michael Keaton also returns to once again step into the iconic shoes of Beetlejuice, with other stars joining the cast such as Filipe Cates and also Justin Theroux, though his role has yet to be specified.

In early July, both Ryder and Ortega were seen on set in Hitchin, Hertfordshire filming wedding scenes, with Cates also spotted.

Notably, the Stranger Things star sported the same pointy black fringe from the original film as she sauntered into the main set while wearing a puffer jacket to keep warm.

The star wore a sharp ensemble and a pair of black lace-up boots as she jumped into her role. The town itself was specially decorated for Halloween for the film, with pumpkins, hay and leaves all over the place.

However, due to the current SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike, television and film productions in Hollywood have been temporarily shut down.

In May, Variety reported that the official Beetlejuice 2 premiere date would be September 6, 2024 – 36 years after the original Tim Burton movie was released in 1988.

Jenna is known for taking on the role of Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix series Wednesday, with four of the eight episodes directed by Burton.

In July, the actress took to her Instagram page to celebrate the show receiving a whopping 100% 12 Emmy nominationsincluding Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (for Ortega), Outstanding Comedy Series, and also Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series for Burton.

The nominations came before Ortega jumped to Instagram to shut down romance rumors with Depp. During a previous interview with Elle Fanning for Variety’s Actors On Actors seriesshe got emotional while discussing social media.

She admitted that her relationship with Instagram can be “ugly” and said her sense of humor can get herself “in trouble.”

“I want people to get to know the people behind the camera and realize that people should never be put on a pedestal,” she explains.

“And the more I’m exposed to the world, people are chasing that and taking advantage of that. They see your vulnerability and twist it in a way you don’t always expect.’

In regards to being authentic on social media and to her followers, the Scream star explained, “I don’t want to feel dirty. I’d rather people see me cry and do whatever, than be something I’m not.’

Jenna later added emotionally, “Social media, what it does to anyone our age, it’s such a comparison game.” It influences the bandwagon mentality. It’s very manipulative. After the show, I’m really nervous about posting or even saying anything there, or even being myself.”
