Weather Alert Day! Tornado Watch is in effect until 12am
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Eyes are turned skyward as Storm Team 11 monitors a cold front system approaching later this evening, bringing a slight Level 2 risk for severe weather. Now a Tornado Watch is in effect until 12:00 Sunday morning. Make sure you know the safest place in your home if you get an alert. Golf ball-sized hail and damaging winds also pose a threat.
Try to limit travel on the roadway as much as possible between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM as the cold front moves through. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible ahead of the front, and Smith County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
Turn on your weather alerts loudly because it will be an overnight event. The storms will clear at dawn on Sunday. Colder air will also move in, so prepare next week, get your heavy coats ready and keep an eye out for early morning frosts.
