‘I ate a Colin The Caterpillar cake at Hogwarts’: Warwick Davis’ star daughter in Hollyoaks recalls what it was like growing up with the Harry Potter actor

The star daughter of Warwick Davis in Hollyoaks recalled what it was like growing up with the Harry Potter actor on Wednesday.

Annabelle Davis, 25, who will play Lacey Lloyd on the soap, joined the Loose Women panelists as she follows in her father’s footsteps.

The actress recalled being on the Hogwarts set as a child while Warwick was working on Harry Potter, adding that she celebrated her 13th birthday at the fictional school.

Speaking on the show, he said: ‘It was surreal. My mom was amazing, she would pick us up from school and take us with dad to the set.

“We would sit in his trailer and wait for him to finish filming, then we would go back to the hotel.

Annabelle continued: “I had my 13th birthday there, it was Sunday, it felt horrible, I went on set and in their trailer.” I went inside to see the scene in the great hall.

‘In the end, they started singing happy birthday. I, 13 years old, was so embarrassed. It’s in the extras on the DVD – It’s me, 13 years old, with Colin The Caterpillar.’

On his own career, he added: ‘Mum and dad were very strict, get your GCSEs and stuff. They never pushed it, as it’s a tough business. When I saw him in a play, where he created it, I thought this is cool. I want some of that.

‘Because I grew up with a famous father, it’s strangely normal. We’ll be walking down the street and they’ll stop him and in the end we’ll keep going…we’ll be there for hours!’

“It’s lovely and we’re so grateful for people who come up to you and say they love what you’ve done because without them, you wouldn’t be doing what you’re doing,” he added.

Elsewhere, she discussed her new role in Hollyoaks, saying: ‘Lucy Allan [producer] she called and said, “I have a part, it’s not written for a little person, but I’d love for you to take a look at it and see if you’d like to play it.”

“It was nice, we had a few Zoom meetings where we discussed the character and the different ways we could take her.

“It’s wonderful to be given a role that’s not made for a little person because that doesn’t really define who you are, but on the other hand.”

“It’s nice to explore things, some small person perspective and really give viewers that.

“I think it’s really important that all this diversity is shown on TV and we can all really learn from it, raising awareness.”

Annabelle previously starred in the Tracy Beaker spin-off series The Dumping Ground, while Warwick played both Hogwarts professor Filius Flitwick and Gringot’s goblin Griphook in the Harry Potter film series.

Loose Women airs Monday to Friday from 12:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
