Wally Lewis pretends to hide behind new partner Lynda Adams as the pair’s relationship remains strong after it ‘drived a wedge between football legend and his kids’
Rugby legend Wally Lewis pretended to hide behind his new partner Lynda Adams as he tried to avoid the cameras at Brisbane Airport on Monday morning.
The Queensland great has evaded numerous tackles throughout his career and his reflexes remain as good as ever as photographers tried to capture him alongside Adams in the departure area.
The couple have been dating for over two years and their relationship was revealed shortly after Lewis divorced his wife of 36 years Jacqueline.
Lewis confirmed his divorce from his wife and the mother of his three children in February 2021.
“This is a very personal matter that we don’t want to discuss publicly,” he said.

“I want to acknowledge the pain and distress my family has been through since Jacqui and I separated last year. I hope in time we can mend our bonds and move on with life.”
It was later revealed that he was in a new relationship with Adams, a volunteer at Sands Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Newborn Death Support Group in Townsville.
Adams had recently divorced her husband, real estate developer Mark Adams, when she met Lewis.
According to The Daily TelegraphLewis’s new relationship had turned the three children of immortal rugby league against him.
The newspaper quoted a source close to the family as claiming that Lewis’ adult children, Mitchell, Jamie-Lee and Lincoln, felt obliged to side with their distraught mother and stopped speaking to their father.
Arguably the greatest Queensland Origin legend of them all, the Emperor of Lang Park captained the Maroons in 30 of his 31 State of Origin appearances and coached them in 1993 and 1994.
Named the sixth member of ‘The Immortals’ in 1999, Lewis was named in both the Kangaroos and Queensland Teams of the Ages and was the logical choice to become the Broncos’ first ever captain.
After retiring, he built a successful media career at Channel Seven and then Channel Nine, which he joined in 1999.
In January, he announced that he would be stepping down from his role as a sports news reader due to health concerns.
Lewis and Adams have been dating for over two years after the big divorce from his wife of 36 years ago in February 2021.
“My health has made decisions for me in the past, so now it’s my turn to make decisions for my health,” Lewis told TV Blackbox at the time.
While I’ll be playing more of a backseat role in the studio, Nine News viewers can still expect me to update them on the highs and lows of local and international sport, and of course share my weekly NRL tips . ‘
However, the former Kangaroos captain rejected suggestions that he could devote time to his broadcasting career.
Beyond Nine News, I will continue to call Wide World Of Sports my home, and there are a number of special Nine programs in the pipeline that I am also ready to tackle alongside my continued involvement with the Queensland Rugby League and Former Origin Greats .’
