The 2023-24 Premier League season is currently on its third international break, but the campaign is readying to return with a bang on November 25.
There are some pretty big fixtures over the weekend of gameweek 13, so let’s take a look at some of the standout games that you won’t want to miss.
Manchester City vs Liverpool
Neither Pep Guardiola nor Jurgen Klopp will like the fact they are coming back from an international break and have to face each other in the early kick-off on a Saturday.
However, neutral fans certainly won’t mind. Manchester City vs Liverpool has become one of the standout games in the Premier League in recent years, and it rarely disappoints.
It’s still very early in the season, but a win for Man City here could be a big step toward them claiming a record-breaking fourth straight title.
Everton vs Manchester United
Jumping ahead to Sunday afternoon’s kick-off, because it’s crunch time for Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag at Goodison Park.
The Dutchman enjoyed a solid first season at Old Trafford, but things haven’t gone as swimmingly so far this season, and he’s the market leader to be the first sacked manager of the season.
Luckily for him, his side are the favourites in the Everton v Man Utd odds, and a much-needed win for the Red Devils could take the pressure off Ten Hag for another couple of weeks.
Newcastle United vs Chelsea
Back to Saturday afternoon now, tough fixtures just keep coming thick and fast for Chelsea as they travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United in a 15:00 kick-off.
This fixture against Eddie Howe’s men means the Blues have had to face Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Man City and Newcastle in less than a month.
Both sides have rather inconsistent form, but the football betting odds are favouring the Magpies to steal the three points in front of a home crowd.
Brentford vs Arenal
The Saturday evening game sees Arsenal make the trip across London to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in the west of the capital.
The Bees’ 2-0 win over the Gunners here in gameweek one of the 2021-22 season is memorable, as it was their first top-flight game in over 70 years. However, Arsenal won 3-0 here last season.
Thomas Frank’s side have discovered some form since the last international break, so Mikel Arteta will be hoping this isn’t a step back in the Gunners’ title aspirations.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa
Not only was Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten start to the season ended in that 4-1 defeat to bitter rivals Chelsea, but it was littered with ill-temper and terrible misfortune.
Cristian Romero was one of two players sent off for Spurs, but the nature of his straight-red means he will miss three games.
The injury to Micky van de Veen in that game also means that Ange Postecoglou will be without his starting centre-back partnership.
High-flying Aston Villa, who are on the cusp of the top four, could be feeling confident of coming away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points on Sunday afternoon.
