Viewers slam NRL grand final entertainment with ‘knock-off’ Tina Turner as ‘something you’d see on Rooty Hill RSL’: ‘That’s shameful!’

Sunday night’s NRL finals entertainment caused a stir on social media.

The stars of Tina, the Tina Turner Musical took to the stage, with many comparing the cover performance to something you would see at a local RSL.

“Looks like the NRL got their entertainment from the Rooty Hill RSL,” someone wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘You can see this Tina Turner impersonator at the Rooty Hill RSL with a free standard drinks voucher. Bloody tragic,” said another.

‘RSL entertainment. I can’t wait for next year,” agreed someone else watching at home.

‘How can you have a tribute band as the main entertainment for a grand finale? F**k me that’s embarrassing,” another posted.

“That performance would kill Tina if she was alive,” someone else said, adding another: “Tina is turning in her grave.”

“The worst tribute to Tina Turner I’ve ever seen,” said another – but not everyone was dissatisfied and many praised the show.

“30 years ago I went to my first rugby league grand final, my dad got two tickets and I went with my grandma,” someone else recalled.

“Tina Turner absolutely stole the day, I think it’s a testament to what this game is to have entertainment this year in tribute to Tina Turner.”
