A man who filmed himself raping a woman has been sentenced to at least five years after his ex-wife found the tape.
Boghos Parizian, 58, filmed an hour and 54 seconds of the attack on a VHS tape in the 1990s.
More than 15 years later, he insisted on entering his estranged wife’s house, where the locks had been changed after he was kicked out in 2009. She then found the tape, labeled “big mama,” among his belongings in the garage.
It was copied to a DVD and handed over to the police in 2015.

Detectives found the woman, who viewed the footage in March 2016, the same month Parizian was charged.
Parizian’s attorney, Chris Watson, argued at trial that the images were confrontational, but that the actions depicted were part of a consensual role-playing game.
The jury rejected that argument and found Parizian guilty on 11 counts of sexual intercourse without consent in February.
Judge Jane Culver said Parizian still denied the crimes and had shown no remorse or remorse, and sentenced him in NSW District Court on Friday to seven-and-a-half years in prison, with a non-parole period of five years.
The footage was the only way to really understand the seriousness of his offense and showed that she was clearly unable to consent, the judge said.
“She was clearly and apparently influenced by something, that’s not to say it was the perpetrator who spiked her drink to give that impression,” the judge said after prosecutors dropped a complaint urging her to discover that Parizian had been drinking her drink. had enriched.
Sometime between October 1991 and March 1993, the woman had dinner with Pariszian to tell him to leave her alone.
He had called incessantly after their short relationship ended, as she tried to reunite with her husband.
She began to feel “off” and “not herself” after drinking orange juice with dinner.
He drove her to his unit in Liverpool in southwest Sydney and said his father was ill.
She remembers finding a mattress on the floor of his bedroom, with another angle to look at the wardrobe, the doors ajar.
She can’t remember what happened next, when Parizian repeatedly raped and threatened her during the hour-long attack.

“I want everything my way today… don’t try to hold me back from anything,” the judge quoted as reading snippets of the footage that showed Parizian knew she didn’t consent.
Parizian later called the woman and threatened to show the video to other people, but she did not believe the footage existed.
The woman said she tried to kill herself after learning the footage existed, telling Parizian he “destroyed my life as a young woman.”
In the footage, she sees the camera and Parizian lies to her that it is broken and not filming, adding to the seriousness of his crime, the judge said.
Some in the public gallery left court as Judge Culver detailed the explicit violation in the footage.
Parisian is eligible for release on February 26, 2028.
