Zoe Ball playfully called her BBC Radio 2 colleague Vernon Kay a ‘lucky man’ after opening up about his morning routine with wife Tess Daly.
As he passed the baton to Vernon for his morning show, the 53-year-old host was eager to know what kind of morning person he was.
Vernon revealed that he, Tess, 55, and his daughters were all early risers and explained why he didn’t need an alarm clock in the morning.
Vernon revealed, “My alarm is set for seven, that’s when we all get up.”
Zoe then asked him if he jumps out of bed right away, confessing that it takes a little push from Tess to shake off his drowsiness.

Speaking about his humorous alarm scenario, he said: ‘I make Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing turn around and say, “It’s time to get up”, with an elbow movement: “Come on, get up”‘.
Grinning, Zoe joked: ‘Oh, you’re one lucky man! Living the dream, Vernon Kay, honestly.”
The humorous exchange then shifted to the latest gossip on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and Vernon praised Pete Wicks, 36.
The presenter described the TOWIE star as ‘sexy, sassy and strong’, but claimed he also had a ‘vulnerable’ side.
He said: ‘The way he opens up and the interviews I’ve read and the way he walks up to Tess is like a huge sigh of relief.’
Zoe then brought up Pete’s touching moment with his mother on the programme, with Vernon adding: ‘He comes across really well.’
It comes after the couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last year and Tess opened up about the secret behind her long-term marriage to Vernon.
In a Q&A on Instagram, she revealed: ‘We still sit down at the table and have so much to talk about, we can still have a real laugh.’

“I see when his name pops up on his phone, I’m like, ‘yay.’
She also praised her husband’s cheerful attitude, saying: ‘We have a good laugh, he is always messing around, dancing and singing in the kitchen. (There is) never a dull moment.”
It comes after Vernon left his BBC Radio 2 co-presenter Scott Mills stunned after revealing how he first met his wife Tess.
During a show earlier this month, Vernon took a trip down memory lane and fondly recalled how we met his beloved wife of 21 years, Tess.
As Britney Spears’ Stronger disappeared on the radio, he shared that the couple had starred in a parody video for the pop icon’s smash Baby One More Time for 2000s music show Top of the Pops@play.
‘It was Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing and I recreated the video for Britney Spears’ ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’. That’s how we first met,” Vernon revealed.

The radio host also added that he was dressed as Britney Spears in the music video for Hit Me Baby One More Time (pictured), her 1999 debut single from her debut studio album of the same name.
‘Yes, I was dressed… no, she was dressed as Geri Halliwell in the Spice Girls Union Jack dress; I was dressed as Britney Spears in the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ video. It was in a charity shop on Shepherd’s Green, Shepherd’s Bush Green.’
Stunned by the revelation, Scott, who also worked on the show, asked, “And did you think for a moment it was me instead of your wife?”
“Well, no, I think we talked about it. I think you messed up. I think you framed it as, “Why don’t you and our new host, Tess Daly, do this?” Vernon replied.
Tess and the presenter have been happily married since 2003 and share two daughters Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14.
