World-renowned ventriloquist David Strassman is in Australia to perform his bawdy one-man show The Chocolate Diet to sold-out audiences.
The comedian has another reason to come Down Under, because he will be the ambassador of the HartKids charity.
Strassman, 65, told Daily Mail Australia he is determined to bring some laughter to the lives of children suffering from heart disease.

‘I put a smile on children’s faces and help relieve their pain. I am honored to give back to the Australian community,” he said.
The American-born entertainer added that while his children’s hospital material is family-friendly, his actual tour show isn’t for the little ones.
“It’s for ages 12 and up, it’s definitely not The Wiggles. My puppet Chuck calls some people c**ts,” Strassman said.
The comedian said he had another reason to come Down Under as he will be visiting hospitals to entertain sick children in his role as an ambassador for a local charity.
He added that the show dealt with various social themes, with one iconic doll even coming out as transgender.
It’s a hilarious pro-LGBT, pro-woman routine. It promotes gender fluidity,” explains Strassman.
‘My show is universal and will appeal to everyone. It’s culturally relevant.’

It also tackles tricky issues with the iconic Ted E. Bear becoming addicted to junk food.
“The show is about body image and being happy with yourself. Ted E. has put on weight during Covid and eats nothing but chocolate. He’s impossibly fat,” he said.
Strassman plays The Chocolate Diet at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theater until Sunday before bringing the show to Adelaide.
